A good education, it is said, is the key to success in life. At its core, education is about someone learning what they or those responsible for them know to be necessary, useful, or interesting (whether that knowledge is helpful to the student and her community or not). What is wonderful about our school system is that our laws and culture mandate attendance--captive audience! Unfortunately there is also much disparity, irrelevance, and misinformation in the practice of educating our children. What a wasted opportunity. I’d love to see schools in every part of this country providing a quality education to all of its students. This is not done by dumbing down standards or accepting complacency and the status quo. It requires working hard, learning to communicate more effectively, and questioning longstanding assumptions. Lastly, it requires faith.
I work towards my dream world because I know the goal is good. Join me in collecting and exploring the many topics drawn upon in the field of education and working to make a better world for all of us.
